One of the Los Angeles Chargers’ prized offseason acquisitions hurt his eye with fireworks on the Fourth of July, ESPN reports.

Running back Najee Harris, who joined the team in free agency earlier this year, sustained a “superficial” eye injury but will be ready for the 2025 NFL season, his agent Doug Hendrickson told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

A total of seven people, including a 13-year-old boy, were hurt in the Antioch, California, fireworks explosion, including one man who lost several fingers, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The high-flying Harris spent his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he ran for more than 1,000 yards each year.

He’s expected to play a big role for the Chargers this year, as the Bolts haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017, ESPN notes.
