The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books and the San Francisco 49ers are settling in with their new rookies and prepping for the next group of offseason activities and rookie minicamp.

The 49ers’ 11 draft picks don’t stand out in a crowd, as even the No. 11 overall pick, Georgia’s Mykel Williams, was considered a “reach” to be selected that high.

And while fans argue over who the best pick was last week in Green Bay for San Francisco, NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice ranked all 32 rookie classes.

He wasn’t impressed with the 49ers week, ranking them No. 17 on his list.

“Robert Saleh’s back,” writes Filice. “And in his second stint with San Francisco, the defensive coordinator’s first order of business is evident: STOP THE GOD**** RUN! The 49ers fell apart last season, losing seven of their last eight games. In related news, they ranked 30th in rush defense during that span, allowing 145.3 rushing yards per game. Consequently, the Niners were hell-bent on fortifying their defensive front in this draft, using three of their first five picks on stout run defenders.

“Now, to be clear, Mykel Williams has the potential to become much more than a simple run-stuffer. Still just 20 years old, the physically imposing edge possesses tantalizing traits — developing them is the task at hand for San Francisco D-line coach Kris Kocurek.”

Williams and the team’s third-round pick, linebacker Nick Martin, are both projected to compete for starting jobs, and it would honestly be a surprise if they both weren’t on the field in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
