It’s not a “Love Story,” but it certainly is quite the story.

Star 49ers tight end George Kittle had a roaring time with pop superstar Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, as they celebrated the start of Tight End University in Nashville, Tenn., last month — as seen in a viral video where the trio sang along to her eight-times platinum single.

Before he takes to the golf course at the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe this weekend, Kittle explained to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco on Thursday how the fun duet came about in what actually was a serendipitous moment for San Francisco’s All-Pro.

“That was a fun one,” Kittle told Maiocco. “We have a fun Monday night welcome party at our hotel in Nashville for Tight End University, and Taylor and Travis came, and they’re like, ‘Hey, do you guys want to go to Broadway?’ And I was like, ‘I would love to go to Broadway with you guys.’ And I was actually, I’m in the process of handing [wife] Claire [Kittle] and Taylor their drinks for the night, and I was like, ‘I just got to tell [Swift] that ‘Love Story’ is one of my favorite songs, definitely my favorite Taylor Swift song.’

“And as I was telling her, it came on the speakers, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to miss this opportunity.’ You don’t get to sing ‘Love Story’ with Taylor Swift very often. And it was just an absolute riot and something I’ll probably remember forever.”

The Kittles appeared to have a blast with Swift and Kelce throughout the festivities for TEU, a three-day immersive program the two NFL tight ends founded alongside Greg Olsen in 2021. It was the perfect place for Kittle and Swift to bond, as the 49ers star spends his offseasons in Nashville and the 14-time Grammy Award winner moved there to pursue a music career when she was 14 years old.

The night out certainly gave Kittle an unforgettable moment, and it’s likely not the last we’ve seen of this newfound friendship.
