We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about CB Will Johnson.

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is cornerback Will Johnson.

Will Johnson background, 2024 season

Considered a first-round talent, Johnson slid to the second round (47th overall) because of a toe injury that limited him to six games at Michigan last season and a previous knee injury that apparently scared some teams off after remnants showed up during his Combine physical that questioned his long-term prospects.

In his final two seasons with the Wolverines, Johnson had six interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns.

Will Johnson 2025 contract details, cap hit

Johnson is one of 30 NFL second-round picks that remained unsigned as of July 10. When he does sign, the total value will likely land around $9 million with at least the first two years of salaries guaranteed and a portion of the third-year salary.

2025 questions, roster outlook

Crucial for Johnson’s immediate prospects is not missing too much of training camp if the logjam of unsigned players around the league continues. On talent alone, and if healthy, Johnson should compete for significant time on the field even with the competition there will be from Star Thomas V, Max Melton and stalwart Garrett Williams.
