We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about CB Star Thomas V.

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is cornerback Star Thomas V.

Star Thomas V background, 2024 season

From Alabama-Birmingham, Thomas entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Lions in 2023. Waived in the cutdown to 53 players, he was claimed by the Cardinals and has consistently improved in his two seasons with the team.

In 2024, he played all 17 games with 15 starts and played 820 (75 percent) defensive snaps while also playing 75 (17 percent) special-teams snaps. Thomas had 47 tackles (31 solo, one for loss), while adding six passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Star Thomas V 2025 contract details, cap hit

Thomas is in the final season of the three-year contract he signed as a rookie. His 2025 base salary and salary-cap charge is $1.03 million with no money guaranteed. He is scheduled to be a restricted free agent in 2026.

2025 questions, roster outlook

Even with Sean Murphy-Bunting out for the season, the competition will be intense in the cornerback room this summer. Thomas can surely hold his own, but the overall quality is strong with Garrett Williams, Max Melton, rookies Will Johnson and Denzel Burke plus 2024 third-round pick Elijah Jones, who missed his rookie season because of an ankle injury, and Kei’Trel Clark. Thomas is rarely talked about, but he displays admirable consistency.
