We are just days away from rookies reporting to NFL training camps and the league is facing an unprecedented situation. Currently, only two of the 32 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft have signed their rookie contracts.
The only two second-round picks who are signed at Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins. They are the first two picks of the round and common sense would tell you it would just be a snowball effect from there.

In this case, the rub is that both Schwesinger and Higgins signed fully guaranteed contracts, and now presumably the rest of the second-round picks want to follow suit. Giving a second-round pick a full-guaranteed deal is an outlier and not the norm. So if you are a fan of a team other than the Texans or Browns and are frustrated that your second-round pick isn’t signed, you can blame them.
Thirty rookies, all with different representation, holding out like this feels a little like collusion and could end up making for a very messy situation going forward.
