After a few days of waiting, we officially know the start of the Carolina Hurricanes second round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Washington Capitals.
The NHL announced late Friday night the two Metropolitan Division rivals will play game one of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. A start time has yet to be released.
The rest of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
The Hurricanes advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after beating the New Jersey Devils in five games in the first round, while the Capitals beat the Montreal Canadiens in five games.
Washington finished the regular season with the highest point total in the eastern conference. They’ll host game one and two of the series before the Hurricanes return to Raleigh to host game three and four.
In four meetings this season the Hurricanes beat the Capitals twice, lost once in regulation and lost once in an overtime shootout.
After each playoff game, Chris Lea and Pat Welter will break down the biggest game-changing moments with insider analysis from former NHL pro Shane Willis.
While the eastern conference second-round matchup have been decided for quite some time, the western conference will have two game sevens this weekend between the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars on Saturday night and the Winnnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues on Sunday night.
