The eight players picked by the Miami Dolphins in the 2025 NFL draft aren’t the only rookies looking to make an impact on the team. The team also has an incoming group of undrafted rookies hoping to earn a spot.
The Dolphins have found success in the undrafted free agent pool in recent years, finding players like cornerbacks Kader Kohou and Storm Duck, as well as tight end Julian Hill, to name a few.
This year’s class has a few talented prospects who many expected to come off the board early on Day 3 of the draft. Here are five players who have a good shot at making the Dolphins’ 53-man roster.
BJ Adams, CB, UCF
Adams was a four-year starter and has prototypical NFL size at 6’2. While he isn’t the fastest corner, he excels in man coverage due to his length and high-effort play, especially at the line of scrimmage where he gets physical in press coverage.Â
His slide out of the draft is likely due to a lack of plays on the ball. The two interceptions he recorded in 2024 were the only pair of his collegiate career, and he tallied 10 passes defended over four seasons.
With largely unproven talent in Storm Duck, 2023 second-round pick Cam Smith, Ethan Bonner, and 2024 fifth-rounder Jason Marshall Jr., Adams has a shot at providing depth in the room and could develop nicely with coaching. Adams could ultimately help the depth in a cornerback room that will likely be losing Jalen Ramsey at some point soon.
Andrew Armstrong, WR, ArkansasÂ
A 6’4 outside receiving threat with an outstanding catch radius is an element that hasn’t been seen in the Dolphins’ receiver room in years. Armstrong has strong hands and can go up and get it over defensive backs, but also has solid yards-after-catch capability.Â
Armstrong is also a solid blocker which is a high-value trait to head coach Mike McDaniel. Some work is needed, but he is more than happy to get physical. With the majority of the Dolphins wide receivers of the short-but-speedy variety, Armstrong can add value in the red zone and has deep-threat ability.
In 2024, Armstrong led the Razorbacks with 78 receptions and 1,140 receiving yards. He displayed big-play ability in 2023, when he was fifth in the nation in receptions that gained 10-plus yards with 51. He could compete with free agent signee Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in camp.
Eugene Asante, LB, Auburn
Asante spent three seasons at North Carolina and another three with Auburn. Although a bit undersized at 6’0, he has outstanding speed with a 4.48 40-yard dash and 1.52 10-yard split. He finished with the fifth-best Athleticism Score (via Combine IQ) among off-ball linebackers.
At Auburn, Asante proved to be a quality blitzer, recording 7.5 sacks in the last two season. His versatility can see him take on multiple responsibilities as a linebacker, with good run support ability and strong awareness in zone coverage. He can also excel right away on special teams.
Jalin Conyers, TE, Texas Tech
Conyers could be used in a plethora of ways and was among the most athletic tight ends in the draft class. While a little undersized for the position at 6’4, he has solid speed and the versatility to play inline or out of the slot, and could even operate the Wildcat.
Coyners spent three seasons at Arizona State before spending his senior year at Texas Tech. He caught 30 passes for 320 yards and five touchdowns in his only season with the Red Raiders. He rushed for a pair of scores as well and even threw a touchdown pass.
Conyers led the FBS in 2022 in missed tackles created by a tight end, via PFF. That versatility could him a creative weapon to use in the red zone while also making him a viable deep route runner who can create separation. He has one of the better opportunities of making this team with limited depth behind Jonnu Smith.
Theo Wease Jr, WR, MissouriÂ
Wease is another tall, outside pass catcher who could battle Armstrong for what may be the final receiver spot on the roster this fall. The Missouri alum has outstanding hands, has shown himself to be a terrific ball tracker, and can make plays in traffic. While Wease doesn’t have breakaway speed, he can a very reliable target who moves the chains.
Wease spent 2019 to 2022 with Oklahoma, and two more seasons at Missouri. He had a productive 2024 with 60 catches for 884 yards and four touchdowns.
