Steelers Could Be In Play For Commanders WR Terry McLaurin originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Washington Commanders’ star wideout Terry McLaurin is entering the final year of his deal and is ready to sign another contract extension.

That sounds great for Commanders fans. The only problem is that the team doesn’t seem as eager, and it’s gotten to the point of “frustration” for McLaurin.

“I’ve been pretty frustrated, I’m not going to lie,” he said, per NBC4 Washington’s JP Finlay. “Everything that has transpired up until this point has been disappointing and frustrating. I want to continue my career here. I’ve created my life here. My wife and I bought our first home here. This has been somewhere I’ve always wanted to be.”

McLaurin was the No. 76 overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He signed a three-year, $68.2 million extension in 2022 and would like to continue and finish his career with the Commanders franchise.

With training camp approaching, McLaurin says he’s still “undecided” on if he’ll attend just yet.

“Honestly, I haven’t decided that yet, I’m trying to take things day by day,” he said. “I think that’s the disappointing part where I was hoping up until this point things would clear up a lot more than they have and so I haven’t made that decision yet and I’m just going to see how the rest of this week goes and take it day by day and go from there.”

In six seasons and 97 games, the former Buckeye has posted 6,379 yards on 460 catches with 38 touchdowns.

If McLaurin and the team can’t come to terms on a new deal then the Commanders could be forced to make a trade rather than lose him in free agency next season.

That opens the door for the Steelers to make an offer that could pair McLaurin with D.K. Metcalf, who Pittsburgh acquired earlier this offseason via a trade with Seattle.
