Gone are All-Pro guard Joe Thuney, defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, safety Justin Reid, and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, to name a few.
But the team also added offensive tackle Jaylon Moore, cornerback Kristian Fulton, running back Elijah Mitchell, and retained running back Kareem Hunt, wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, defensive end Charles Omenihu, and perhaps important of all tight end Travis Kelce.
But Kansas City also made another major move on Tuesday afternoon in keeping Pro Bowl Trey Smith — a move that quarterback Patrick Mahomes wholeheartedly signed off on.
“Chiefs, OL Trey Smith finalizing 4-year, $94M extension with $70M guaranteed to make him the highest-paid guard in the NFL. (via @RapSheet),” the official NFL X account posted, which Mahomes retweeted.

An hour later, the two-time MVP posted a simple “😁” emoji, signaling he approved of the Chiefs’ latest $90-plus million investment.
Mahomes’ tweet brought about some pretty strong reactions from the Chiefs fan base.
“🐐 got Protection,” one fan wrote.
“TREY SMITH BABY!!!!!!” another fan exclaimed.
“Mahomes approved! Gotta keep you protected!” a third fan rejoiced.
“Protect MY KING ❤️❤️🔥,” one user celebrated.
“So happy for Trey! And you! And us! Go Chiefs! ❤️🧡❤️🧡,” another user beamed.
Smith is coming off one of the best seasons of his career.
