The majority of NFL teams begin training camp next week, and while most player movement is done, we will likely see some movement among teams before the start of the season.
Trades happen during training camp and through the preseason as teams evaluate their rosters. Every team has players who are on the trading block, and the Tennessee Titans are no different.
In a piece that outlines 10 plausible trades that could happen before or during training camp this season, For The Win names a player the Titans could realistically trade for, and one they could realistically trade away.
OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux to the Titans
The Titans need an ace pass-rusher to help lead the Cam Ward era, and Thibodeaux may fall to a rotational role in New York with Abdul Carter joining Brian Burns off the edge. Tennessee could send a package of picks to the Giants and secure Thibodeaux as the team’s new top edge rusher. It would be a big swing for a Titans team that isn’t guaranteed to be competitive in 2025, but a quick Ward ascent could leave Tennessee hoping it did more to address its defense to compliment a rising offense. We’re not sure if New York would entertain a Thibodeaux trade, but we do think the right offer might get the Giants interested in trading the pass-rusher. The Titans could sign Thibodeaux to a new contract to lock him in for the future after trading for him.
Possible Trade: A 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick to New York for Thibodeaux
The Titans would love to acquire a player like Kayvon Thibodeaux. He’s had his struggles and missed five games last season with an injury, but his ability to get at the quarterback exceeds the current linebacking corps in Nashville. Whether the Giants are willing to trade Thibodeaux or not is another question, and what we see in training camp next week will give us more information on how viable this trade could be.
The player the Titans could trade away won’t come as a shock to anyone.
WR Treylon Burks to the RaidersBurks’ time in Tennessee feels nigh, as the former first-round receiver has struggled to live up to his draft status because of injuries. If any team in the NFL could take a flier on a former first-round wideout, it’s the Raiders. Las Vegas has real questions at receiver, and Burks could contend for a starting role or a key depth role in Chip Kelly’s offense. Particularly with quarterback Geno Smith throwing the ball, we’d love to see Burks try to really get his NFL career going with one of the most pass-happy quarterbacks in the NFL. While the Titans would probably have to settle for a late pick, a fresh start feels right for all parties involved. The Raiders could be a nice landing spot for Burks at this point, and the Titans could give its younger receivers more reps.
Possible Trade: A conditional 2026 seventh-round pick to Tennessee for Burks
The Titans have a plethora of options at wide receiver right now, and Burks isn’t at the top of the list. He missed the majority of last season after tearing his ACL during practice, and the previous two seasons, he missed six games each with various injuries, including concussions.
Burks hasn’t produced much for the Titans since he was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. That doesn’t mean he can’t still have a great career, but maybe Nashville isn’t the place for him. With a new quarterback at the helm, solid veteran receivers and fresh young receivers, Burks will likely find himself wearing different colors before long.
