We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about OL Paris Johnson Jr.

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook.

This focuses on offensive lineman Paris Johnson Jr.

Paris Johnson background, 2024 season

Johnson enters his third NFL season, all with the Cardinals. He was drafted sixth overall in the 2023 draft and played his rookie season as their right tackle, playing every one of the team’s 1,133 offensive snaps.

Last year, the Cardinals released D.J. Humphries and Johnson was moved to left tackle and was solid. He played 14 games and then missed the final three with a knee injury.

Paris Johnson 2025 contract details, cap hit

Johnson enters the third year of his four-year rookie contract that also has a team option for a fifth season. He is scheduled to make $1.03 million in salary and also a $2.27 million training camp roster bonus. His cap hit in 2025 will $7.65 million. His contract is fully guaranteed as a first-round pick.

Questions he faces, roster outlook

First of all, Johnson is a lock for the roster. He is the unquestioned starting left tackle. The question is whether he can take the next step in his development, playing at a Pro Bowl level, whether or not he is selected to it, considering the more well-known tackles in the NFC.

As a former No. 6 overall pick, the Cardinals need him to be more than just pretty good. He needs to be great.
