Vigil held for Nate White at Rufus King International High School
A balloon release was held for Nate White at Rufus King International High School in Milwaukee on July 2, 2025, following the former star player’s death.
MADISON – Police in Brookings, South Dakota, announced the findings of its investigation into the death of former Wisconsin football player Nate White on July 15.
According to a press release, the department found no criminality involved in White’s death and ruled the passing of the former Milwaukee King standout as a “natural, sudden death.”
White, 20, was found deceased in his bed in Brookings by a roommate at about 6:44 a.m. on June 25, police said.
According to the police department statement, White’s death was caused by a medical event that disrupted his breathing and heart functions.
White, a running back, was a member of the South Dakota State football team. He played for Wisconsin in 2023 and ’24 and transferred to South Dakota State in January.
