With just a week until the Pittsburgh Steelers start training camp, we decided now was the time to update our 2026 NFL mock draft. We are doing a full five rounds and there are lots of new names on the list but the positions of need remain constant.

This time around, we double up at wide receiver and cornerback to account for what could be significant free-agent losses at both spots. Let’s break down the picks.

First round – QB Fernando Mendoza – Indiana

Right now, Mendoza is the hottest name at quarterback in college football. If he can live up to the hype, his first-round grade will be earned.

Second round – CB Malik Muhammad – Texas

Muhammad has the size to play outside but all the athleticism to move inside or outside and perform in coverage at a high level.

Third round – WR Zachariah Branch – Georgia

Branch is one of our top breakout candidates. He’s lightning quick and just a blur in the short area with serious deep speed.

Third round – OT Cayden Green – Missouri

Green is a tremendously powerful blocker with the potential to start at offensive tackle or guard. He’s also an underrated athlete for his size with a massive punch.

Third round – S Keon Sabb – Alabama

The Steelers should be so lucky to have a playmaker like Sabb last until the third round. He feels like an ideal replacement for Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Fourth round – RB C.J. Baxter – Texas

After a strong 2023 season, Baxter missed all of 2024 with a brutal knee injury. He’s healthy and hoping for a big bounceback.

Fourth round – IOL Jaeden Roberts – Alabama

Alabama linemen are always strong NFL candidates and Roberts is no different. We love him as an eventual replacement for Isaac Seumalo.

Fifth round – CB Thaddeus Dixon – North Carolina

Dixon is a great value here as he comes to North Carolina from Washington, where he hopes to turn more of his coverage plays into interceptions.

Fifth round – WR Deion Burks – WR Oklahoma

We go back to wide receiver here because if Calvin Austin III leaves in free agency, the speedy Burks is a great option to replace him on the depth chart.
