The entire 44-unit apartment complex was damaged with an estimated loss of $3.5 million, according to Cleveland Fire.

According to attorney Stanley Jackson, who helped organize the event, the Garden Valley Fun Fest will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

“This is a time for our community to come together-not only to address the difficulties we face but to begin the process of healing and rebuilding,” Jackson said. “We are here to provide support, guidance and legal assistance to ensure that the rights and dignity of all affected residents are upheld.”

The event will feature free food and drinks, family games and giveaways, live music, free haircuts, legal and housing support services and a special dedication to the Garden Valley Falcons Football Team.

In a press release sent by Jackson’s office, Bridgette Smith-Jackson, a community advocate and organizer in Ward 5, said the time should be used to call for accountability.

“We must listen to those impacted, acknowledge the failures that led us here, and commit to tangible, sustained action,” Smith-Jackson said. “By standing together, we not only begin to heal; we demand a future where safety, equity and dignity are non-negotiable.”
