The Buffalo Bills offloaded former first-round pick Kaiir Elam this offseason, shipping his guaranteed salary to the Dallas Cowboys. Now that we’ve got to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Bills are beginning to get back some of the return on that trade.

Original terms of the Kaiir Elam trade

Cowboys receive: Kaiir Elam, 2025 sixth-round pick
Bills receive: 2025 fifth-round selection, 2026 seventh-round selection

After everything settled out in the draft order, the Cowboys received the 204th pick back from Buffalo and the Bills get the 170th pick, a difference of 34 picks. Here’s the updated compensation:

Cowboys receive: Kaiir Elam, 2025 204th overall pick
Bills receive: 2025 170th overall pick, 2026 seventh-round selection

Who did the Bills select with the picks from the Kaiir Elam trade?

Buffalo received the 170th overall pick in 2025 for Kaiir Elam. They used it to select their second cornerback of the draft, picking Ohio State CB Jordan Hancock. He’ll essentially fill Elam’s spot on the roster, it would seem.

The Bills also get a pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

What did the Cowboys do with the picks from the Kaiir Elam trade?

Dallas received the 204th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft as part of the deal for Kaiir Elam. We will update the post when the pick is made.
