Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph is happy to return to the city that drafted him after a one-year hiatus.
Rudolph supported the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon on Saturday, and he was interviewed at the event. He says he is excited to work with the Steelers again and that being back in the city itself is great for him.
“It’s a lot of hard work. They’re in shape; there’s no question. They’ve got their parents and friends and family here to support them, and that’s all we’re trying to do,” Rudolph said to WTAE. “Being back in the city of Pittsburgh, it’s a sports town like no other. Any time we get to repay that, it’s always a fun opportunity.”
Rudolph went 1-4 in his starts in 2024, throwing nine touchdowns and nine intercpetions while amassing 1530 over the year. Now, Rudolph is the starter as of now with no answer from Aaron Rodgers.
Rudolph’s breakout three games came at the end of the 2023 season, where he led the Steelers from 7-7 to 10-7 and a playoff berth, where they would lose to the Buffalo Bills.
The Steelers drafted Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He stayed with the team through the 2023 season after a second lease on his NFL life.
Pittsburgh drafted Will Howard in the sixth round and has Skylar Thompson as another veteran on the roster. However, general manager Omar Khan said they will go into training camp with four.
