One of the first comparisons observerant onlookers made for Cincinnati Bengals third-round pick Dylan Fairchild was Wyatt Teller of the Cleveland Browns.

It might be a little shocking to hear a mid-round pick compared to Teller and his multiple All-Pro nods and Pro Bowl trips for the Browns. But the connection and logic is sound — new Bengals offensive line coach Scott Peters coached Teller for four seasons in Cleveland and would agree.

“Fair assessment,” Peters said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Very much similar physically. Dylan has that in his body. He’s a really strong kind. He’s just kind of learning the game, and he understands the game. I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing what we’ve got.”

That’s not to say it’s a guarantee that Fairchild turns into an All-Pro level player by any means. But the physical side of things certainly seems to be a match and if anybody would know, it’s Peters.

Like Amarius Mims last year, Fairchild could have a serious shot at winning a starting job over the summer. He’s in the mix at the guard spots with names like Lucas Patrick, Cody Ford and Cordell Volson, at least.

We’re a long way from finding out if Fairchild can reach such lofty upside. But the Bengals will certainly settle for just unearthing a starter in front of Joe Burrow with a paltry third-round pick in 2025.
