The Atlanta Falcons haven’t done much worth celebrating in recent years. After three painfully mediocre seasons under head coach Arthur Smith, the team improved their record by one game (8-9) under Raheem Morris in 2024. The Falcons are hoping a retooled defense and more stability at quarterback will be enough to finally get over the hump.

While depth has been an issue, the front office has done a decent job of building a talented roster. Three Falcons made Pro Football Focus‘ list of the NFL’s top 50 players entering the 2025 season.

Safety Jessie Bates, running back Bijan Robinson and guard Chris Lindstrom all placed on the PFF50. Bates landed at No. 40, one spot ahead of his former teammate, Trey Hendrickson.

Jessie Bates ranked 40th on PFF50:

Bates earned an 81.4 coverage grade in 2024, marking the fourth season of his career with a coverage grade above 80.0. Over the past two years, he’s excelled in a free safety role, posting a 93.0 coverage grade in that alignment. Since 2020, Bates also ranks fifth among all safeties in WAR. — Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema, PFF

Next on the list was Robinson, who landed five spots ahead of Bates at No. 35. After a breakout season in 2024, PFF thinks Robinson is officially “elite” at his position entering the 2025 season.

Bijan Robinson ranked 35th on PFF50:

Robinson made the leap to elite in 2024, earning a 92.1 rushing grade and an 82.2 receiving grade, both ranking in the top 10 among running backs. He topped 1,400 rushing yards, with 920 of those coming after contact, and his 0.23 missed tackles forced per attempt also ranked top-10 at the position. With one of the league’s best run-blocking offensive lines paving the way, the sky’s the limit for Robinson heading into 2025. — Wasserman and Sikkema

Lindstrom placed the highest on the PFF50, landing at No. 29. The former first-round pick has been one of NFL’s highest-graded players over the last few seasons and had another good year in 2024. PFF thinks Lindstrom will still be a “bulldozer” up front despite the loss of Drew Dalman.

Lindstrom ranked 29th on PFF50:

The Falcons led the NFL in team rushing grade last season (89.2), and Lindstrom was a driving force behind it. He’s earned blocking grades above 87.0 in each of the past four seasons, including elite run-blocking marks of 93.1 in 2022 and 94.6 in 2024. As a pulling blocker, he posted a staggering 38.7% impact run-blocking rate last season and hasn’t dipped below 22.0% in that metric over the last three years. Even with the loss of center Drew Dalman, Atlanta still has a bulldozer up front in Lindstrom for 2025. — Wasserman and Sikkema

The Falcons are roughly a week away from opening up training camp for the 2025 NFL season. Players officially report to the team’s Flowery Branch facility on July 23 and begin practice on July 24.
