Fans of the Denver Broncos have a lot to be excited about for the upcoming 2025 season, after making the playoffs last year for the first time since they won Super Bowl 50, back in the 2015 season.
A cornerstone of that team – in fact, the Super Bowl MVP – Von Miller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season, as the Broncos slipped into oblivion for a few more years before becoming relevant again last year.
Miller only played for the Rams one season, helping them to win a Super Bowl, then left LA for Buffalo where he’s spent the last few seasons playing for the Bills.
He became a free agent after last season ended, and many speculated he may return to Denver to finish his career. He’s 36 years old, which is nearly a senior citizen in NFL linebacker terms, so his free agent market was somewhat limited.

And now it’s been announced he finally has a new team.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter – a longtime Denver reporter turned national correspondent and NFL Insider – reported yesterday that Miller is signing a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders. Miller himself posted on social media a photo of him in a Commanders uniform as well.
Reactions have been mixed, with some thinking Miller could be the final piece to set up Washington for a championship run, while others think he’s too old to make a difference.

Broncos fans, for their part, were hoping he would return to Denver to finish his career. While his productivity wouldn’t be anywhere near what it was when he played in Denver from 2012-2021, the “feel good” aspect of his homecoming would have made the 2025 season more special somehow.
Instead, he’ll play what could be his final year(s) in Washington.

Jersey Numbers the Denver Broncos No Longer Use
These jersey numbers hold special reverence to the team and thus aren’t allowed to be worn any longer. When longtime fans see these numbers they say, “He was the best!” “The GOAT!” “They couldn’t have done it, without him!”
