We’ve reached the point where the countdown to New Orleans Saints training camp is made in days, not weeks or months. And on Thursday, July 17 the Saints announced several minor scheduling changes for practice sessions open to fans. It’s nothing too significant — a handful of practices will begin 15 minutes earlier or later than previously planned, and wrap up accordingly — but if you’re making plans to be there, make sure you’ve checked the most recent schedule. Tickets are free but they must be reserved in advance.
You can find more information here. While a few training camp practices at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center in Metairie remain closed to fans, the following 11 practice dates are open to the public:
Wednesday, July 23: 9-11 a.m. (Shells)Thursday, July 24: 10:15-11:30 a.m. (Shells)Friday, July 25: 9-11 a.m. (Shells)Sunday, July 27: 9-11 a.m. (Shells)Monday, July 28: 9:15-11:30 a.m. (Pads)Wednesday, July 30: 9:15-11:30 a.m. (Pads)Saturday, Aug. 2: 10:15-11:30 a.m. (Pads)Sunday, Aug. 3: 9:15-11:30 a.m. (Pads)Tuesday, Aug. 5: 9:15-11:30 a.m. (Pads)
However, the Saints have made no plans to open up practice sessions in California, even though they chose UC Irvine’s campus because the Los Angeles Rams did so well there for so many years (with tens of thousands of fans making the trip to practices). If you can’t make it to one of these open practice dates, your best bet at seeing the team in person before September would be buying tickets to a preseason game.
