The San Francisco 49ers have officially signed the final member of their 2025 rookie class—second-round pick Alfred Collins—ending any speculation that the defensive tackle might hold out when training camp practices begin next week.
Collins, who missed the entire offseason program due to a calf injury, has yet to make his practice debut. However, the 49ers did not place him on the non-football injury (NFI) list this week, signaling that he’s been medically cleared to participate when the team takes the field.
DT Alfred Collins, who did not participate in the 49ers’ offseason program due to a calf injury, was NOT placed on the non-football injury list upon signing and reporting to Santa Clara. That means he is cleared to take the field once training camp practices begins on July 23.

San Francisco selected Collins out of Texas with the No. 43 overall pick, making him one of three defensive linemen drafted in 2025 as part of a major defensive front overhaul.
The 49ers used their first-round selection (No. 11 overall) on Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams and added Indiana standout CJ West in the fourth round.
Fifth-round pick Marques Sigle, a rookie safety out of Kansas State, has also seemingly been cleared to practice. Like Collins, Sigle did not participate in organized team activities or minicamp due to an injury but is now expected to be a full participant at the start of camp.
The only member of the 49ers’ 2025 draft class to begin camp on the injury list is quarterback Kurtis Rourke. San Francisco placed the seventh-round pick on the NFI list as he continues to recover from January surgery to repair a partially torn ACL—an expected move given his rehab timeline.
