Here is the latest update on Colts QB Anthony Richardson’s shoulder with training camp near.
(This story was updated to add new information.)
Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Stephen Holder said on an appearance on NFL Live that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson would be “good” for training camp.
On Thursday, Holder expanded on that initial report.
“Anthony Richardson Sr. is believed to have recovered from his recent right shoulder setback as the team prepares to report for training camp next week,” Holder wrote.
Holder adds that with the players being away, the Colts’ medical staff will still have to examine Richardson’s shoulder prior to training camp beginning. Holder also mentions the possibility of a “pitch count” early on for Richardson as he ramps up, but he has been throwing “with velocity” during the off time.
A shoulder injury sidelined Richardson for much of OTAs and all of minicamp, allowing Daniel Jones to take the bulk of the first-team reps. Shane Steichen was “very pleased” with what he saw from Jones.
Jones’ performance in early June won’t determine who the starting quarterback is come Week 1, but he does likely enter training camp with the upper hand, and Richardson will have to hit the ground running.
