The Denver Broncos‘ impressive 2024 season came to a crashing halt in the first round of the NFL playoffs when the club was humbled in a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Broncos defensive end Zach Allen totaled four tackles and one sack in Buffalo. The playoff loss to the Bills has served as fuel for Allen and his teammates to bounce back in 2025.

“I think it’s pretty easy [to be fueled by the loss],” Allen said after the Bills game. “Obviously, we didn’t get the job done. It stings right now, but I’m sure probably by next Saturday, Sunday whatever the next playoff game is, it’s really going to kind of sit in and get the fire going when you watch other teams play. It sucks, but you have to get back on the horse.”
The Broncos exceeded outside expectations by even reaching the playoffs last season, but Allen wasn’t content just to reach the postseason.
“I get what the expectations were, but if you look at the season, there were definitely some ones that you kind of want back, some moments you want back,” Allen explained. “Again, kind of everybody keeps on saying, ‘It’s great that they’re in the dance,’ but at the end of the day, we know who we are and we probably should… Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve, but it’s true. You just have to kind of take that going forward.”
Allen, 27, is coming off a career year in which he totaled 61 tackles, 40 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks. There were more plays to be made, though, particularly in the playoffs. Allen — and the entire team — will look to bounce back this fall, and after experiencing an ugly playoff loss last season, they’re motivated to avoid that same fate in 2025.
