The Miami Dolphins are entering the season with a lot of unknowns after making a surprising trade that sent away Jalen Ramsey and brought in Jonnu Smith. Despite the shake-up, the team still has Tyreek Hill, who’s made it clear that he’s approaching this year with a new mindset.

“Every day I’m trying to prove myself as one of those guys this team can depend on in crucial moments. . . . It was tough. Emotions were high then. At the end of the day, I’m just looking to move forward from that. Hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I’m still one of those ones,” Hill said.

While Hill’s focus is promising, the pressure may be even greater on head coach Mike McDaniel. This season could be his last with the Dolphins, as expectations are high and the recent trade hasn’t helped his case.

“All of those now put a tremendous amount of pressure on McDaniel, who is coming off his first under .500 season with the Dolphins, who were also on the outside looking in on the playoffs. We already listed McDaniel as a head coach with one of the hottest seats in the NFL entering 2025, and the road to save his job just got even more difficult,” CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan wrote.

Second-year running back Jaylen Wright is not only looking to make a leap in Year 2 but is also standing firmly behind his head coach. He’s made it clear that the team is out to prove something this season.

“We’re going to show them all year. We’re going to keep our foot on their necks, keep our foot on the gas… there’s a lot of people talking down on the Dolphins, but we’re going to show everybody this year,” Wright said.

The Dolphins may have been written off due to internal challenges and offseason moves, but both Hill and Wright have publicly stated that this year will be different. If Wright’s words ring true, it could reignite the fanbase — and help Mike McDaniel hold onto his job.
