Most people’s biggest thread to pull when it comes to the Buffalo Bills is the lack of a genuine No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen.
Yes, Josh Palmer was signed, but he is more a No. 2 than a No. 1, and there is nothing wrong with that, but for some, a stud receiver for Allen is needed if the Bills are to break through their playoff ceiling in 2025.

However, as we have discussed, the Bills’ offense last year, without a No. 1 option, still put up 30.9 points a game, and made it to the AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
For one national outlet, when listing the team needs for Buffalo, yes, the Bills addressed their defensive needs in the draft, but the receiver room still doesn’t have a top dog.
“For the receivers, the depth is decent, but there’s not a true No. 1 option,” the site writes.

We can hear general manager Brandon Beane getting hot under the collar here. … but we know Bills Mafia might have this 1 Josh Allen-related worry.

With Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, Palmer, and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox, that is ample weaponry for Allen, plus James Cook and Ty Johnson are capable pass-catchers out of the backfield too.
The “everybody eats” mantra fueled the Bills’ blistering offense last season, and as we know, a No. 1 receiver needs to have their fair share of targets, which, depending on that player’s mental makeup, could be detrimental to the team.
Buffalo seems like it has a good thing going on offense with Allen and Joe Brady, with a host of players content with being role-players, and it suited them well last season.
Which is why we will continue to say that while another receiver might be nice, it feels more like a luxury than a necessity right now.
