Jaguars sponsored flag football teams heading off to Canton, OH

Jacksonville Jaguars held sendoff party Sunday July 13, 2025 at Miller Electric Center in Jacksonville, Fla. for their flag football teams that they sponsor for the NFL Flag Championships next week in Canton, Ohio.

Brysen Wright, a rising sophomore at Mandarin High School, made a one-handed touchdown catch during the NFL Flag Championship quarterfinals. The catch, which went viral, occurred during a game against Old Skewl (Baltimore Ravens) and drew attention from figures like Patrick Mahomes.Wright scored three touchdowns in the game, including the game-winner, and also had an interception.

It wouldn’t be an NFL Flag Championship without Brysen Wright of Jacksonville going viral.

For the second year in a row, Wright, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound rising sophomore at Mandarin, broke the internet with a play for the Jaguars Elite team.

Wright caught a 30-yard TD pass from Dalton Motes on Saturday in a 24-19 victory over Old Skewl (Baltimore Ravens) in the quarterfinals of the 14U bracket at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

The play caught the attention of, among hundreds of thousands of people on social media, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Wright ran a flag pattern from about 30 yards out, cutting outside and breaking away from double coverage. Jaguars quarterback Dylan Motes lofted the ball into the end zone and Wright jumped over a defender and pulled the ball in one-handed, with his back hand, maintaining control of the ball through the ground.

He got bumped by one defender on his break, then outjumped another one to pull the ball in.

Wright scored three TDs in the game, including the game winner from 5 yards out from Motes with 30 seconds to play. In five games, Wright has scored seven touchdowns. He also added an interception on Saturday.

The Jaguars will play RFP (Buffalo Bills) in the 14U semifinals on Sunday at Noon, with the game televised on ESPN, ESPN+ and NFL+. If the Jaguars win, they will play in the championship game at 4 p.m.

Brysen Wright had two one-handed picks in the 2024 NFL Flag Championships

Last year, Wright wowed TV viewers and social media when he made a pair of one-handed interceptions in a quarterfinal victory.

Here was the first, where he reached out with one hand while managing to stay in bounds:

And the second, where Wright came down with the ball in a crowd:

The TD catch on Saturday had been viewed more than 1 million times on X posts by ESPN, ESPN SportsCenter, NFL Network, and the Jaguars by 6 p.m. Among the comments:

“Future first-round draft pick.”

“ESPYs 2026 winner.”

“You got Mossed.”

“Gotta be AI.”

Nope … just Brysen Wright, balling out.

Wright is being recruited by, among others, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Colorado, according to 247Sports.
