1. New study shows rise in youth nicotine pouch poisoning

A new study shows that the number of young children sickened from nicotine products like pouches has skyrocketed in recent years. A majority of those children are younger than 6, new data shows. The Upstate Poison Center is putting into perspective the sheer rise in the number of poisonings reported.

2. The Buffalo Bills need you to help finish the new stadium

On Saturday, July 19, the Bills, along with the New York State Department of Labor, are hosting a Construction Career Fair KeyBank Center. It’s your chance to be part of Western New York history. 

3. Bills sign second round draft pick T.J. Sanders to rookie contract

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a deal with second round pick defensive tackle T.J. Sanders. The entire 2025 draft class for the Bills are now under contract.

4. Buffalo Pro Soccer holds first town hall since stadium site switch

Buffalo Pro Soccer held its eighth town hall to gather public input as it brings a USL Championship team to the Queen City. Thursday’s town hall was the first since the team’s decision to abandon a downtown stadium after concerns arose from a chemical facility located adjacent to the proposed site. The club is now considering several other locations.

5. Hunger Awareness Challenge offers a glimpse of what food insecurity is like

Our Breanna Fuss did the Hunger Awareness Challenge. It took place from Sunday through Tuesday, leading up to Give 716 Day. For three days, she ate what typically comes in an emergency kit from a food pantry.

6. New York state agency overtime costs increased 10% in 2024, comptroller says

Overtime costs at New York state agencies increased 10.2% in 2024, totaling $1.3 billion, according to a report released Friday by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The report said overtime hours also increased by 7.8%, or 1.8 million hours higher, than the previous year. This is the eighth consecutive year of increases.
