EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings (5-1) on Wednesday ruled out linebacker Blake Cashman (toe) ahead of visiting the Los Angeles Rams (2-4) to begin Week 8 on Thursday Night Football.
Minnesota listed cornerback Akayleb Evans (hip), tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee) and guard Dalton Risner (back) as questionable.
Cashman will miss a second consecutive game due to turf toe. The Vikings filled in for him by having Ivan Pace, Jr., wear the green dot helmet with the communications device. Kamu Grugier-Hill took some snaps last week against Detroit, and in the second half, Minnesota aligned Andrew Van Ginkel as an inside linebacker at points before moving him around the formation.
Hockenson (on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List) and Risner (on Injured Reserve — Designated for Return) are in their 21-day evaluation windows. They can be placed on the 53-man roster at any point, but Minnesota would have to make corresponding move to free up spots.
The other players on Minnesota’s injury report this week — safety Theo Jackson (hand), running back Aaron Jones, Sr. (hamstring), outside linebacker Pat Jones II (shoulder), tight end Josh Oliver (wrist) and defensive lineman Harrison Phillips (shoulder) — did not receive a game designation and are expected to be available.
