During the 2023 season, Derrick Henry replaced Shaun Alexander as the career leader for NFL rushing yards by a player from an Alabama high school or college. In the 2024 season, the Baltimore Ravens running back did the same for career touches.

With 325 rushing attempts and 19 receptions in 2024, Henry pushed his career total to 2,529 touches, surpassing Alexander’s 2,402. Henry joined 35 other NFL players who have reached 2,500 career touches, or combined rushing attempts and receptions.

Henry’s 344 touches in 2024 were the most by a player with Alabama football roots last season. That ranked fourth in the NFL and was seven more than another former Alabama running back had as Josh Jacobs recorded 337 for the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs’ total lifted him into the top 10 for NFL career touches for players from Alabama high schools and colleges. As Jacobs vaulted to No. 7 on the list, he pushed former Auburn running back Ronnie Brown out of the top 10.

Henry also holds the single-season record for touches for a player with Alabama football roots with 397 for the Tennessee Titans in 2020.
