Broncos Wire‘s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fifth-year offensive lineman Will Sherman, No. 78.

Before the Broncos: Sherman (6-4, 300 pounds) was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (197th overall) in the 2021 NFL draft. After signing with the Patriots, Sherman only appeared in one game, playing only six special teams snaps in 2021, before being waived after the season.

Broncos tenure: After Sherman’s release, he was picked up the Denver Broncos in September 2022, signed to the practice squad. According to the Broncos, Sherman was promoted to the active roster in Week 18 of the 2022 season, but did not play. Sherman survived two more years of cuts, remaining on the Broncos’ practice squad in 2023 and 2024.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Practice squad candidate. Sherman has survived three years of cuts on the Broncos’ practice squad, which means he has shown enough for the team to want to keep him. However, Sherman does face competition to remain on the practice squad from younger players such as Caleb Webb, Xavier Truss. Sherman is probably a strong candidate to retain a practice squad spot in 2025.
