HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WBRC) – An NFL player, and Heisman Trophy, winner returned to his alma mater to host a youth football camp.
Jameis Winston currently plays for the New York Giants, but when he was in high school, he played baseball, and served as quarterback for the Hueytown High School football team.
Winston held the Winston Dream Forever Youth Football Camp on Saturday, July 19 at Hueytown High School. He brought along some of his friends, who are also professional athletes, to help out and the camp saw hundreds of kids attending.
He said that he’s glad he can give back to the community he grew up in. His main goal was to encourage everyone who attended his camp.
“The biggest thing is, I just want the kids to understand that they have the ability to dream forever. Just because they don’t see something going on in they life right now doesn’t mean it does not exist for them,” said Winston. “We’re going to encourage these kids to always keep big dreams and dream unimaginable things, so that one day, it could become possible.”
Winston will be starting his 11th season with NFL. Before playing for the Giants, he also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints and he played for the Cleveland Browns in 2024.
