Desmond Ridder apparently does want to continue playing professional football.
Two months ago, the Denver Broncos invited Ridder to try out for the team at rookie minicamp. Ridder was initially expected to attend, but he backed out due to a “scheduling conflict.” Denver then pivoted and brought Ian Book to rookie camp on a tryout basis instead.
Broncos coach Sean Payton seemed to hint that Ridder was facing uncertainty about his football future.
“Obviously, Desmond had decided… I think he’s possibly thinking about what he wants to do with his career,” Payton said in May.
Just over two months later, the 25-year-old quarterback has now agreed to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals. Ridder will now compete for the backup spot behind Joe Burrow with Jake Browning and Logan Woodside.
Meanwhile, on the ex-Bronco front, pass rusher Jaylon Allen worked out for the Arizona Cardinals last week.
