CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Bengals are reportedly signing a former University of Cincinnati quarterback ahead of the start of training camp on Wednesday.
Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reported that Desmond Ridder is signing with the team.
Ridder, who played at UC from 2018-2021, was originally a third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2022. He played for Atlanta through the 2023 season and spent last season playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ridder has made 18 career starts, 17 of which came with the Falcons.
This past season with the Raiders he played in six games with one start and completed 52 of 85 passes for 458 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
In his career he has completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 4,002 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Ridder will compete with Jake Browning for the backup role behind starter Joe Burrow.
