Green Bay Packers 2025 schedule: Breaking down each game
Sports reporter JR Radcliffe breaks down each game on the Green Bay Packers’ 2025 schedule.
Former Green Bay Packer JC Tretter, who was considered a favorite to replace Lloyd Howell as interim director of the NFL Players Association, has resigned as chief strategy officer from the NFLPA.
A former center with the Packers and Cleveland Browns, Tretter told CBS Sports in an interview he has removed himself from consideration for the interim top NFL union post
“Over the last couple days, it has gotten very, very hard for my family. And that’s something I can’t deal with,” Tretter said.
“So, the short bullet points are: I have no interest in being [executive director]. I have no interest in being considered; I’ve let the executive committee know that. I’m also going to leave the NFLPA in the coming days because I don’t have anything left to give the organization.”
Tretter’s resignation comes just days after Howell stepped down in part due to a 61-page arbitration report released by ESPN where both the NFL and NFLPA agreed to keep collusion information from players.
ESPN has also reported that Powell used NFLPA funds to visit multiple strip clubs.
Many players had criticized Tretter’s possible upcoming appointment to the new position
We’ve gotta be the dumbest Union in all of sports
Ya —let’s vote for the guy who was in charge of hiring Lloyd Howell.
Lets vote for the guy who swept a lot of shit under the rug when NFL owners were colluding to not give out guaranteed contracts

“I love the guys, and that’s why I’ve done what I’ve done for the last six years is because I love what they do and who they are and the mission of the organization,” Tretter said. “And I think what I realized this morning when I woke up — after finally getting more than like two hours of sleep – is that I fell in love with the idea of what this place could be. And over the last six weeks, I’ve realized what this place is, and the delta between those two things.
“And I can’t walk into the building anymore, seeing and understanding what I see and understand now.”
In the July 20 interview with CBS Sports, Tretter denied involvement in any agreement struck by the NFL and NFLPA regarding collusion
“I’m not resigning because what I’ve been accused of is true,” Tretter said. “I’m not resigning in disgrace. I’m resigning because this has gone too far for me and my family, and I’ve sucked it up for six weeks. And I felt like I’ve been kind of left in the wind taking shots for the best of the organization.”
Tretter played for the Packers in his first three NFL seasons beginning in 2014 after being selected in the fourth round of the 2013 draft out of Cornell. He retired after the 2021 season after five seasons with the Browns.
