Rashee Rice will fully participate in training camp

  • July 21, 2025

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KCTV) — Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn’t changing his approach with Rashee Rice at training camp in St. Joseph, Mo. this month amid a looming suspension.

A Texas judge sentenced Rice Thursday to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time for his involvement in a 2024 multi-car crash that left multiple people hurt.

“As far as Rashee [Rice] goes, I mean that’s obvious news out there,” Reid told reporters Sunday. “We’re gonna progress as normal with him. He’ll go in and take all the reps that he’d normally take.”

The criminal sentencing allows the NFL to move forward in its disciplinary process. ESPN reports Rice likely faces a multi-game suspension.

“We always rotate that position,” Reid said of the wide receiver room. “Depending on what happens here in the future, whoever needs to play will be able to step in. They’ll know what they’re doing and be in good shape to do it.”

Reid kept his answer short when asked if he knew of a potential timeline for when disciplinary action may come down from the league:

“No,” he said. “I don’t have anything.”

Reid also said he hasn’t had any conversations with Rice on the matter.

Rice missed the bulk of last season after going down to a knee injury in Week 4, but appeared healthy at mandatory minicamp and OTAs.

“He did a great job during the offseason program,” Reid said.

Right tackle Jawaan Taylor, cornerback Kristian Fulton, and tight end Tre Watson will start camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

The Chiefs kick off training camp at Missouri Western Tuesday morning.
