3. Slay began his college career at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi before attending Mississippi State. He earned All-SEC honors as a senior at Mississippi State in 2012 when he recorded 40 tackles, 26 of them solo stops, with five interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown.
4. Following Super Bowl LIX, he was given the key to his hometown of Brunswick, Georgia and there was a parade in his honor, where the mayor spoke of his impact on the community. He opened the Big Play Slay Center of Excellence, an academic center, in Brunswick in 2018.
5. He likes to be referred to as ‘Slay’ or ‘Big Play Slay.’ He said only his grandmother has permission to call him by his given name of Darius and his father, Darius Sr., calls him Junior.
