The Indianapolis Colts are about to begin 2025 training camp at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield. So, of course people are looking toward the 2026 NFL Draft.

Projecting the Colts’ first-round pick next April is a reach, so these proposed selections can be taken with a pinch — or maybe a pound — of salt. First, you have to figure out where the Colts are picking (all in the top 15 here — and therefore, not in the playoffs) and who they will target (most are thinking quarterback).

If the Colts go for a QB, the following are mentioned as possible first-round picks:

Way-too-early 2026 NFL mock draft for Indianapolis Colts

Walter Football: 15th overall, Anthony Hill Jr., LB Texas

“The Colts have had a weakness at linebacker since Shaq Leonard regressed and then was removed from the team. Anthony Hill Jr. covered the field very well to begin his collegiate career.”

Bleacher Report: 8th overall, Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

“Allar possesses arguably the best arm in the draft. There is no throw on the field that he cannot hit. Allar delivers passes with optimal velocity to their receivers. He is a fearless passer and trusts his arm strength. He can rip throws and place them where he desires. Allar throws the ball downfield accurately and with above-average touch/arc.”

Pro Football Network: 7th overall, Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

“Allar is a polarizing prospect with some believing he’s not worthy of a first-round selection. However, the Penn State product has the best raw arm talent in this class and saw a significant jump in accuracy from 2023 to 2024. While Penn State’s elite rushing attack often overshadows him, Allar is still a very good prospect and should be a Day 1 pick in 2026.”

DraftTek: 10th overall, Keldric Faulk, DL, Auburn

“Let’s get this out of the way; the Colts may need to draft a QB in 2026. Let’s hope not, but it becomes the biggest need if Richardson or Jones don’t make the job their own. RT Braden Smith is a free agent in 2026, and is unlikely to be retained. It’s very possible that Indy will need to fill three starting roles along the o-line next year, but Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves could nail down the OC, and RG spots respectively. The secondary always seems to be a need in Indianapolis, so CB or safety will also be high on the list.”

Draft Sharks: 8th overall, Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State

“Downs is the best safety prospect in a long time with his man coverage ability and ball skills. He also isn’t afraid to make tackles at the line.”

NFL Mocks: 9th overall, Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana

“When your top two quarterbacks are Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, it’s time to make a serious move at the position. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza is a player whose draft stock could rise quickly this season now that he’s operating in the Hoosiers’ offensive system. He has ideal NFL size, a quick release, and the ability to throw from multiple platforms, all of which give him the tools to develop into a high-level NFL quarterback.”

ESPN: 11th overall, Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

“Anthony Richardson’s injuries and lack of development led to the Colts signing Daniel Jones this offseason. Barring major improvement from Richardson (or a breakthrough by Jones), Indianapolis will be in search of a quarterback. Nussmeier showed flashes in his first season as a starter, throwing for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The son of Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, Garrett plays with fire and energy and isn’t afraid to take chances. If he cuts down on his interceptions, Nussmeier has the velocity, accuracy and playmaking ability to move up draft boards.”
