SEATTLE Seahawks tight end Noah Fant has been released by the team just days before their training camp begins.

The decision was announced just three days before the Seahawks welcome players to camp on July 23.

He spent three seasons with the Seahawks

A whopping $9million in salary cap space has opened up as a result.

In a statement announcing his departure, the NFL outfit said second-year tight end AJ Barner will get more opportunities now.

Rookie Elijah Arroyo and veteran free-agent addition Eric Saubert are also set to get more of a look in.

Fant has earned $31.6million in the NFL.

A Denver Broncos’ first-round pick in 2019, the 27-year-old joined Seattle in 2022, with veteran Russell Wilson being sent the other way.

He went on to play 48 games for Seattle, recording 130 receptions for 1,400 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons.

Fant hasn’t played in fewer than 14 games in a season since entering the league as a rookie in 2019.

However he has yet to reach at least 700 yards and five touchdowns in a season.

The 20th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Broncos is now free to sign for who he wants.

Fans on social media were quick to react to the news, with a section of Seahawks excited for AJ Barnes to come through.

One wrote: “Goodbye Noah Fant. It’s AJ Barner season.”

Another said: “Never really worked out how it should have.”

A third added: “Damn. Good luck on your next journey brother.”

Meanwhile, some Broncos fans have called for their side to bring Fant home.
