We can get back to real football analysis later. Today we’re focusing on useless, inane Tennessee Titans fun facts.
The team took nine players in the 2025 NFL Draft. We can spend days, hours and months debating how good the picks were and how good the players will be. But for now, let’s just have a little bit of fun.
Here, as compiled by The Tennessean, is one incredibly useless fun fact about each of the Tennessee Titans‘ nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cam Ward: Transferpalooza
Cam Ward is only the third player in NFL history to be picked No. 1 in the NFL draft after having played his amateur football at three colleges. Interestingly, he shares one hyper-specific trait with his two predecessors: A first name with one (Cam Newton) and a franchise that drafted him with another (John Matuszak).
Oluwafemi Oladejo: ‘Wheel of Fortune’ nightmare
You have to use all five vowels to spell the full first name of Titans second-round pick Oluwafemi Oladejo. That makes him the only player the Titans or Oilers have ever drafted to feature all five vowels in one name. Heck, he’s only the seventh draft pick in franchise history to have all five vowels in his full name, joining Larrell Murchison (2020), Jeremiah Poutasi (2015), Hicham El-Mashtoub (1995), Houston Antwine (1961), DeJustice Coleman (1960) and Cleatus Drinnon (1960).
Kevin Winston Jr: The most important verb
Third-round pick Kevin Winston Jr. is the first Titans/Oilers draft pick to feature the word WIN sequentially in his name since.. . . . Houston’s Antwine in 1961? Who would’ve guessed that guy would be mentioned twice in one article?
Chimere Dike: When the SEC doesn’t mean more
Chimere Dike, the fourth-round wide receiver, is the first University of Florida product the Titans have drafted since 2007. That is the third-longest streak the Titans had gone without picking a player from an active SEC institution, surpassed only by Texas A&M (1995) and Vanderbilt (1992). So much for showing the hometown school love.
Gunnar Helm: Know the coach
Some of you might know the fun fact that Winston went to the same high school as Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. But if you want to dig deeper, you’ll find that Gunnar Helm, the Titans’ newest tight end, attended the same high school as 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. There are 15 high schools in America right now that can boast having produced an active NFL player and an active NFL head coach. Thanks to Helm, Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado, is one of them.
Elic Ayomanor: Neighbors to the north
Stanford receiver Elic Ayomanor, picked in the fourth round out of Medicine Hat, Canada, is the first native Canadian the Titans/Oilers franchise has drafted since kicker Roy Gerela in 1969. Want to know how long ago that was? Gerela made just 19 of his 40 field goal attempts as a rookie and still got asked back for Year 2.
Jackson Slater: Fun with U.S. geography
Jackson Slater, from Sacramento State University, is the first Titans/Oilers draft pick ever to feature a U.S. state capital in both his name and his alma mater. Perhaps surprisingly, he becomes the first Titans/Oilers draft pick with the given name “Jackson.” The only other pick with a first name/capital in franchise history was Austin Johnson in 2016.
Marcus Harris: Fun with U.S. history
There have been 50 people to serve as the vice president of the United States. There have been 42 players drafted by the Titans or Oilers who shared a surname with one of them. Sixth-round cornerback Marcus Harris is the latest.
Kalel Mullings: Know your comic book trivia
Michigan running back Kalel Mullings, the Titans’ sixth-round pick, is quite literally named after Kal-El, Superman’s Kryptonian alter ego. Given the fact that the Titans/Oilers have never drafted a player named “Clark,” the only other draft pick in franchise history to share a name with one of Superman’s alter egos is wide receiver Joey Kent, selected in 1997.
