During minicamp, the Indianapolis Colts had quarterback Desmond Ridder in for a tryout. However, with training camp nearly upon us, Ridder will not be joining the Colts. Instead, he is signing with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Tom Pelissero.
A third-round pick by the Falcons in the 2022 NFL draft, Ridder spent his first two seasons in Atlanta. There, he appeared in 19 games, with 17 starts, 13 of which came during the 2023 season.

In that span, Ridder completed 64% of his passes with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Ridder was traded to Arizona during the 2024 offseason. He was released by the Cardinals during roster cutdowns and then joined the Las Vegas Raiders, where he would play in six games with one start.
With Anthony Richardson sidelined during minicamp, part of the decision to bring in Ridder for a tryout could have been to provide the quarterback position with a boost during those practices.
According to 107.5 The Fan’s Kevin Bowen, Ridder’s reps in those practices were “very limited.”
