PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — With the return of training camp on the horizon, the Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled a new throwback uniform for the upcoming 2025 NFL season.

The newly designed uniforms will pay homage to the 1933 team, which was when the Steelers were founded.

“We’re excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II.

Pittsburgh will honor that team, with the new uniforms, during their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers, on October 26th.

“It’s especially fitting that we’ll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers – another franchise in the league with a long and rich history,” Rooney II added.

The new gold throwback uniform features black stripes, with large white block letters, trimmed in black, on the front. The jerseys also feature the city’s on the shoulder.

The first time I saw it, my jaw dropped because we haven’t worn a jersey like that in a while as a team,” said linebacker Alex Highsmith. “It’s all so cool. I would say the helmet is my favorite part of it. That yellow matte helmet is just sick. I think it’s a cool new look.
