Back in 2020, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Khalil Davis with the 194th overall pick in the draft. Although he didn’t have a huge role on the Buccaneers during his rookie season, he received a Super Bowl ring.

The Buccaneers waived Davis during his second NFL season. He was then claimed by the Indianapolis Colts. That stint didn’t last very long though.

In 2022, Davis returned to the Buccaneers. He also spent time on the Los Angeles Rams that year. A little over a month after the 2022 season ended, Davis signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League.

Davis was released from his USFL contract in July 2023 so he could sign with the Houston Texans. After a productive 2023 season, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. That turned out to be the final stop in his career.

On Monday morning, it was revealed that Davis has retired at the age of 28. This news was broken by his agent, Deiric Jackson of Legacy Sports Advisors.

Davis had 105 tackles and 13 sacks during his time at Nebraska. His 2019 season is what really put him on NFL teams’ radars.

As for his production in the NFL, Davis had 46 tackles, 10 QB hits, three sacks and a forced fumble. The majority of his success came in Houston.

We wish Davis all the best as he enters the next chapter of his life.
