After the Denver Broncos selected seven players in the 2025 NFL draft, every outlet and media personality has given their take on the draft class — except us.
At Broncos Wire, we wanted to give our take with grades for each of the Broncos’ picks in last week’s draft. Let’s dive in!
Rd. 1: CB Jahdae Barron, Texas: A
The Broncos helped their offense by adding to their defense, taking the best defensive back in college football in 2024. Barron joins an already stout Broncos secondary, where his versatility could see him start at outside corner, nickelback or even safety.
Rd. 2: RB RJ Harvey, UCF: A
Denver finally grabs a running back, although it wasn’t the one everyone expected. Harvey had the second-most yards per carry (6.8) among running backs who had at least 230 carries. No. 1 on that list belongs to sixth overall pick Ashton Jeanty, taken by the Las Vegas Raiders. And that’s with Harvey having 152 fewer carries than Jeanty. The Broncos may have found themselves a three-down back.
Rd 3: WR Pat Bryant, Illinois: A-
While Bryant was not the fastest wide receiver (Bryant ran a 4.61 40-yard dash at the NFL combine), Bryant was a yard-after-catch beast for Illinois — something that the Broncos sorely lacked, especially late in the 2024 season. Denver is rounding out a young receiver corps, in a room led by veteran pass-catcher Courtland Sutton.
Rd. 3: DL Sai’vion Jones, LSU: B+
Jones adds a big body (6-6, 280 pounds) at defensive end. Jones could add an instant impact on a defensive front which had 63 sacks in 2024, a franchise record. The Broncos are stacking up to stop the best offenses and quarterbacks in the NFL.
Rd. 4: EDGE Que Robinson, Alabama: B
Robinson was a special teams ace for the Crimson Tide before breaking out as a pass-rusher late in his collegiate career. Before an injury ended his 2024 season, Robinson was becoming a force. Robinson proved that he could have value on the defensive side of the ball, as well as on special teams.
Rd. 6: P Jeremy Crawshaw, Florida: A
The Broncos needed a field-flipper after former punter Riley Dixon left in free agency this spring. The Australian punter spent four years in Gainesville, three as the primary starter for the Gators.
Rd. 7: TE Caleb Lohner, Utah: B-
Lohner only has four career catches, but he definitely has upside. Lohner’s four catches in college all went for touchdowns. That likely won’t be the case in the NFL, but the former college basketball player for Utah, Baylor and BYU could be a developmental weapon in quarterback Bo Nix’s arsenal.
Overall draft grade: A-
The Broncos came away with several starting-caliber players who are ready for the 2025 NFL season. Denver is primed and ready to make another playoff run; hopefully, the next one ends in February, not January.
