With the 2025 college football season roughly a month away, Big Ten fans are debating the latest preseason poll.

The 15th annual Cleveland.com Preseason Big Ten Football Poll was released this Monday morning. Out of 25 voters, 11 of them picked Penn State to win the conference this season.

Penn State has a lot of star power returning for this fall, especially on the offensive side of the football. Drew Allar should be one of the best quarterbacks in the country, and the backfield has a one-two punch of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton.

We also can’t forget about the coaching upgrade Penn State made this offseason, poaching defensive coordinator Jim Knowles from Ohio State.

Fans have made it clear they’re not confident ranking Penn State ahead of Ohio State.

“I’ll believe Penn state is better than Ohio State when it actually happens. I’d rather be late to that party,” one fan said.

“Penn State at 1 is a choice,” a second fan wrote.

“Penn St and Tennessee are the preseason champions every year. They both underperform,” another fan declared.

Cleveland.com isn’t alone when it comes to ranking Penn State above the rest of the competition in the Big Ten. In fact, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has the Nittany Lions ranked No. 1 in his top 25.

“After finally turning the corner under coach James Franklin in 2024, the Nittany Lions look loaded for bear this coming season. With Allar, Allen and Singleton returning, Penn State should have one of the most balanced offenses in the FBS, especially if Allar takes the next step as a downfield passer,” Schlabach wrote.

Is this the year Penn State finally gets it done? We’ll find out.
