Former Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines has landed with a new team, signing with the LA Chargers, according to Adam Schefter.
Hines hasn’t played in an NFL regular season game since 2022 due to a knee injury.
Hines would tear his ACL in a jet-ski accident during the 2023 offseason and miss that entire year. He signed with Cleveland last offseason but didn’t appear in any games in 2024 either.
A fourth-round selection by the Colts in 2018, Hines played his first four-plus seasons in Indianapolis before he was traded to the Buffalo Bills during the 2022 season. In return, the Colts would receive running back Zach Moss and a 2023 conditional sixth-round pick.
During his Colts’ career, Hines made 17 starts and appeared in 81 games. He averaged 3.9 yards per rush but was a big part of the passing game, catching 235 passes–including two 60-plus catch seasons–for 1,778 yards and eight touchdowns.
Hines was also a kick and punt returner with the Colts as well, averaging almost 12 yards per return on 73 punt attempts with two touchdowns.
