After scrapping their Bumblebee uniforms back in 2018, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now reaching back to a similar era with their new throwbacks set to debut this year.

On Monday, the team officially unveiled the first look at its 1933-inspired threads that call back to the beginning days of the franchise with gold helmets, gold jerseys with black stripes and large block lettering; along with the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder and beige pants.
The uniforms will reportedly be worn in the team’s “Sunday Night Football” matchup vs. the Green Bay Packers this October after last making an appearance in the mid-’90s.

It didn’t take long for fans to give their (mostly negative) opinions online.
“I am issuing a full apology to the Chargers yellow jerseys, it could always be worse,” a user said.
“Are these the jerseys from Batman?” another person asked.
“Ngl this is hideous,” a fan commented.
“🗑️”
“maybe the worst thing ive ever seen,” Zach Frydenlund posted.
“So cool of the Steelers to pay tribute to the Gotham City Rogues.”
“This is ….. something,” a Chiefs account replied.

“these are so incredibly ugly I cannot believe any person with a functioning brain signed off on these,” another user admitted.
“These should be illegal.”

There haven’t been a lot of changes to the Steelers uniforms over the years. So when they do decide to throw it back, it’s usually to a bygone era like the 1930s when the team’s look was more… colorful.
