With training camp set to begin this week, the 49ers are doing their due diligence when it comes to their questionable wide receivers room entering the 2025 NFL season.
San Francisco on Monday worked out a handful of wideouts, including Equanimeous St. Brown, a six-year NFL veteran and brother of Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown, as well as Quintez Cephus, Grant DuBose, Ramel Keyton, Stanley Morgan and Brandon Powell, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
The 49ers today had tryouts with six wide receivers: Equanimeous St. Brown, Quintez Cephus, Grant DuBose, Ramel Keyton, Stanley Morgan and Brandon Powell. QB Spencer Petras, also on a tryout, threw them passes.

There’s plenty of uncertainty surrounding the 49ers’ receiving corps as it stands, with Brandon Aiyuk still recovering from knee surgery, Jauan Jennings in a contract dispute, and Ricky Pearsall placed on the physically unable to perform list last week.
Those are just a few of the team’s concerns. San Francisco brought in veteran receiver Demarcus Robinson this offseason, but he could serve a multi-game suspension after recently pleading no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
So with all of those questions, it’s no surprise the 49ers are looking to add some depth.
Equanimeous St. Brown was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers and last served on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad during the 2024 season. After finishing his rookie 2018 season with 21 receptions for 328 yards in 12 games, St. Brown sustained a high ankle sprain during a preseason game in August 2019, ending his sophomore campaign before it began.
The 28-year-old has appeared in 62 games during his NFL career with 28 starts, hauling in 68 receptions for 928 yards and two touchdowns during his time with the Packers, Chicago Bears and Saints.
Cephus was drafted by the Lions during the fifth round in 2020 and has appeared in 22 games (six starts) with Detroit over three seasons, with 37 receptions for 568 yards and four touchdowns. DuBose, a seventh-round pick of the Packers in 2023, saw his first NFL regular-season action with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, catching two passes for 11 yards.
Keyton signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee in 2024, and initially made the 53-man roster before he was waived and re-signed to the practice squad in late September. He was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 1 and appeared in eight games, catching one pass for 7 yards.
Morgan last played for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 and has five seasons of NFL experience, with 51 games under his belt. Powell, a six-season veteran, spent the last two campaigns with the Minnesota Vikings and has recorded 83 receptions for 749 yards and three touchdowns in 78 games.
