CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Bengals signed a former University of Cincinnati quarterback ahead of the start of training camp on Wednesday.

Desmond Ridder played at UC from 2018-2021, and was originally a third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2022. He played for Atlanta through the 2023 season and spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Ridder has made 18 career starts, 17 of which came with the Falcons.

This past season with the Raiders he played in six games with one start and completed 52 of 85 passes for 458 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

In his career he has completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 4,002 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Ridder will compete with Jake Browning for the backup role behind starter Joe Burrow.
