Shedeur Sanders’ slide was the biggest storyline in the 2025 NFL draft. Everyone had their take on why it happened and how it fit with the Cleveland Browns.

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is the latest star to give their opinion.

“He was the talk of the top-2 QB’s in his class,” Nabers said on Carmelo Anthony’s podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn.”There’s no way in hell he goes 5th round.”

Nabers continued going in on teams that viewed his personality as a negative trait.

“For them to judge him [Sanders] on the things that he says or how he carries himself,” Nabers continued. “How he carries himself is all about how his dad raised him. You don’t do that. You don’t do that to a kid who’s been working their whole life. I lost a little bit of respect for it [after Sanders fell].”

Anthony chimed in and took the conversation in a direction many assumed was a significant reason for Sanders’ slide.

“This is the part of the game that is whack. This is an attack at Prime [Deion Sanders],” Anthony said.

Was it an attack on Deion Sanders and his family? Perhaps, and unfortunately, we will likely never know for sure. Everything that Colorado fans saw and heard from Shedeur Sanders throughout his two years in Boulder was always positive, so it does beg the question whether his draft slide was simply a pure talent evaluation or something more.

Sanders is already in Cleveland, embracing the local community and setting his sights high with bold goals for his NFL career.
